Changing of Interrogative Sentences


Interrogative Sentences:
Definition; in interrogative sentences we ask the questions from someone.
Note: if we want to change the interrogative sentences from direct speech into indirect speech then we will act upon the following Rules.
Rules of interrogative Sentences:
1: “said” change into “asked”.
2:”if” or” whether” will be used between two speeches in the place of “that”.
3: in “Indirect speech” Helping verb will come after the subject.
4: question mark will change into full stop.
5: an interrogative sentences will be changed into simple sentences.
6: do, did and does will be removed.
7: if the interrogative sentences staring form W.H words then W.H words remain in their places and we will not use “if” or “weather” and that is not used too.
For example;
You said to me,” do you like her?” (Direct speech)
You asked me if I liked her. (Indirect speech)
She said to me,” am I swimming in pool?” (Direct Speech)
She asked me if she was swimming in pool. (Indirect Speech)
You said, “Do we kill him?” (Direct Speech)
You asked whether we killed him. (Indirect Speech)
She said to them,” is he coming here?” (Direct Speech)
She asked them if he was coming there. (Indirect Speech)
Ali said to me, “are you coming with us?” (Direct Speech)

Ali asked me whether I was going with them. (Indirect Speech)
